Culloden Veterinary Clinic

Meet the Staff

Scott Young BVMS MRCVS - Clinical Director

Scott trained and graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 1995.  He worked in New Deer, Aberdeen for two years, then moved to Inverurie at a mixed practice where he worked for 18 years.

Scott has now moved back to Inverness where he used to attend Millburn Academy.  He lives with his wife, three children and his bearded collie called Obi.

His interests include all sports - especially football, rugby and golf.

Dominique Staszowski DVM MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Currently on maternity leave

I started working for Culloden Veterinary Clinic in October 2015.  I have come a long way to become the vet I love and enjoy being.

I was born in South Africa and studied veterinary medicine in Warsaw, Poland through International Medicine and now I live and love my life in Scotland as a newly wed, working with a wonderful team.

My life goal is to be a fantastic vet, a super vet!

As well as doing my usual vet work I also practice acupuncture for small animals which works wonderfully for chronic pain management amongst other treatments.

Becky Race BVM&S MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

I have come back to Culloden after a couple of years away.  I missed spending time with all our lovely clients and your animals and I hope to provide an excellent standard of care to your furry family members.

I've been working mostly in the North of Scotland since I qualified from Edinburgh in 1995 including 2 1/2 years at Culloden from December 2012 to May 2015.

In my time off I love spotting wildlife while sea kayaking and hillwalking.

Laura Taylor DVM MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Warsaw University in March 2017 and joined Culloden Veterinary Clinic shortly after.  I was born and brought up in Inverness and after many years away I have finally made my way back home.  I love the outdoors and in my spare time I enjoy exploring the Highlands with my husband and our dogs Poppy, KC and Primrose.  I also enjoy training and working my springer spaniel Primrose.

Sam Smith - BVMS MRCVS Veterinary Surgeon

"I am originally from England, but moved to Scotland to attend vet school at the University of Glasgow. After graduating in 2014 I spent two and a half years in mixed practice in Aberdeenshire and from there I headed off for a year of travelling and working throughout Australia - a fantastic experience where as well as dogs, cats and rabbits I treated the odd kangaroo joey, turtle and even an echidna!
I came to Culloden Veterinary Clinic in January 2018 and have really enjoyed joining the team and meeting the clients and their pets.
In my spare time I enjoy cooking, getting outdoors and travelling when I can."

Jantje Kerutt MRCVS - Veterinary Surgeon

Currently on maternity leave

I graduated in 2008 from Hannover, Germany.  After working in a mixed practice in Northern Ireland and Scotland, I joined CVC in May 2015.  I enjoy music, hillwalking and cuddling my 2 rescue cats.

Karen Mackay RVN & MBVNA - Head Nurse

I have been a qualified veterinary nurse since 2000. I have been at Culloden Vets since it opened and know the place inside out!
I have had a variety of pets from a young age, from small to large and have also owned horses for many years. We still have one old boy Yogi who is a character.
Last year we got a new addition to the family - our gorgeous Fox Red Labrador pup Izzy! Her and our little girl are buddies.

Janet Lainton - RVN

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 1998 and since then I have kept myself busy - working with and for wildlife, becoming a pet behaviourist, dog walking, pet sitting and working as a Registered Veterinary Nurse.

I currently have a "fat cat" called Louie (who is on a diet), and my dog is called Holly.  I also have a daughter who keeps me on my toes and makes life fun!

I've been with Culloden Veterinary Clinic since December 2016 and I hope to be here a long time helping the team look after your pets.

Matthew Whillans - RVN

Matt started working as an animal nursing auxiliary at a small animal practice in Lancashire in 1994 and then went on to train as a vet nurse, qualifying in 1997. He enjoys lots of aspects of nursing as it is such a varied role but especially enjoys consulting and assisting in theatre. Having previously worked as a nurse in an emergency referral clinic, he enjoys the challenge of assisting with emergencies as and when they occur. In his spare time, he enjoys the outdoors and often spends his weekends hillwalking & cycling.

Susan Scott - Practice Manager

Raised in the Highlands and having spent many years in office management I joined Culloden Vets in May 2016.  A keen animal lover and wildlife supporter I am also passionate about the country we live in, surrounded by some of the most amazing scenery in the world.

Lynn Littlejohn - Receptionist

I have been working at the practice as a part time receptionist since 2009. In my spare time I am busy looking after my two dogs, two cats and two rabbits, and enjoy nothing better than long walks on the beach.

Lorraine Christie - Receptionist

I joined the reception team in Feb 2014.  Most of my spare time is spent with my best pal and jogging partner Harvey my cocker spaniel and my two cats Kizzy & Wilbur.  I also enjoy fitness training, art, travelling and socialising with family and friends.

Lisa Pasieka - Receptionist

I have a huge passion for animals big and small and joining the practice in February 2017 was one of the best things I've done.  I love interacting with all the clients and their lovely pets.  In my past time I enjoy going on long adventures, taking photos and having cuddles with my cats Simba, Axle, Thor & Loki.
